Ryan Robinson
Lead guitar, talkbox
As one of the latest additions to Electrichead, joining in the summer of 2007, Ryan is also the youngest member of the band at just 20 years old.
Ryan first developed an interest in music aged twelve after attending Bon Jovi's final concert at the original Wembley stadium in June 2000. After convincing his parents that his interest was serious, he received his first electric guitar for Christmas of the same year.
After taking a number of guitar lessons it was apparent that Ryan's strengths were in working out music by ear, and so he continued his studies self taught. Much of his early teenage years were spent working out the songs of his favourite bands, paying meticulous attention to replicating tone and technique (a skill that would prove useful later in his playing with Electrichead).
After secondary school Ryan studied the BTEC National Diploma in Music at Oxford College of Further Education, with Chris as one of his college lecturers. It was there that he first began harbouring ambitions of becoming a session guitarist, and quickly took to studying a wide variety of musical genres and styles. Ryan completed the course in the summer of 2007, becoming the first student to do so awarded a triple distinction grade.
It was immediately after completing the course that Ryan was contacted by Nick (after having heard his playing as a guest guitarist with Suede Alien), and given the opportunity to join Electrichead, an offer he accepted with no hesitation.
In addition to playing with Electrichead, Ryan regularly performs with other bands, does various session guitar work and writes and records his own solo material whenever possible.
He is currently studying the BMus Degree in Popular Music Performance at Guitar-X (Tech Music Schools) London, but continues to live in Oxford.
