Ryan Robinson was born in Oxford on the 13th December 1988.
Although not born into a particularly musical family, Ryan was always surrounded by an eclectic mix of music from an early age.
It wasn't until age eleven that Ryan developed a serious interest in music, inspired by hearing the talkbox in the Bon Jovi classic "Livin' on A Prayer". After discovering the talkbox was used in conjunction with the electric guitar and convincing his parents that his interest was serious, Ryan received his first electric guitar for Christmas of the same year.
After taking a number of guitar lessons it became apparent that Ryan's strengths were in working out music by ear, and so he decided to continue his studies self-taught. Much of his teenage years would be spent working out the songs of his favourite bands, paying meticulous attention to replicating the tone and technique of his favourite guitarists, notably Matt Bellamy of Muse and Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine. He also soon began writing his own material, forming and playing in bands with his school friends, obsessively practising during almost every lunch hour.
After completing secondary school education in 2005, Ryan studied the BTEC National Diploma in Music at Oxford College of Further Education. It was there that he first began harbouring ambitions of becoming a session guitarist, studying and learning to play in a wide variety of different musical genres and styles. Ryan completed the course in the summer of 2007, becoming the first student to be awarded a triple distinction grade.
Immediately after completing the course and on his gap year, Ryan was approached to join local rock covers outfit Electrichead, an offer which he accepted with no hesitation.
Through his playing with the band he soon made a name for himself as a versatile guitarist on the local music scene, earning opportunities to play with other bands, standing in for other guitarists, and gaining vital live playing experience as a session player.
It was also during his gap year period that Ryan worked as part-time apprentice to luthier and technician Steve Kendall, learning valuable skills in the maintenence, construction and repair of electric, acoustic and bass guitars.
Currently, Ryan is studying the BMus degree at Tech Music Schools (London College of Music) but continues to live in Oxford, gigging regularly with Electrichead, Off The Record and a number of different bands. He also records original material as a solo artist, collaboratively with Silence and Echoes, and as a session player with producers and musicians.
